Our mission.

Through our Graphic Communications Education Foundation we strive to strengthen and support our graphic communications industry by presenting opportunities for educational advancement and career potential. Through awareness, support, and financial endowments, we hope to enlighten others to an exciting and lucrative industry with varied and dynamic career opportunities. It is our mission to disseminate materials for use by schools and industry, assist and promote certification programs and encourage the advancement of instruction in the graphic communications community.

We are associated with Western States Print Alliance, an organization designed to serve the printing community throughout the Arizona, Colorado and New Mexico regions..

Peggy Deal

Peggy has been a graphic designer for more than 40 years. She is the owner of Deal in Design, and the program chair for graphic design at Scottsdale Community College; teaching Graphic Design I, II, and III, Portfolio and Self Promotion, Digital Prepress, Typography and Creative Brand Strategy.

Alana Sabin

Alana Sabin has worked as a graphic designer since 2005. In 2009, she transitioned to education and taught Graphic Design at Higley High School in Gilbert, AZ for three years. She currently serves as adjunct faculty for the Maricopa Community College District, and uses both her graphic design expertise and her educational background to design corporate training programs for a company in Scottsdale, AZ. Paige Lock

Paige Lock is a graphic designer and owner of design firm, Paige’s Pages. As adjunct faculty at Scottsdale Community College, Paige teaches InDesign, InDesign II and Photoshop. She has a BFA in ceramics from Arizona State University and an AAS in Graphic Design from Scottsdale Community College.




Rick Burress

As one of the three original Apple-certified consultants nationally, Rick has been a part of the desktop publishing revolution since its inception, in 1987.

Jennifer Decker

Starting with a degree in graphic arts technology and management, to her first job in bindery at her school’s print shop, Jennifer’s career has allowed her to gain valuable experience in several areas of the printing industry. From customer service to estimating and planning, she has worked over 22 years in offset lithography. Currently, she is the Director of Client Services at Prisma in Phoenix.




John Earle

One of the first graduates of Arizona State University’s printing program in 1962, John is now retired from many years as an integral part of the printing sales community.



Cathy Skoglund

Cathy Skoglund is the Manager of Operations and Business Development for the Arizona State University Print & Imaging Laboratory. She received her Bachelor of Science and Technology degree with an emphasis in Graphic Communications from Arizona State University. She has created a unique environment which offers students a real world digital working environment while they are seeking their degree. The entire workforce of the ASU Print & Imaging Lab is made of enthusiastic students with innovative ideas.



Darcy Anderson

Darcy has been with Ironwood, a RR Donnelly company, for 35 years. As a single source provider she coordinates marketing and communication projects for her clients across the United States.



Mary Kennelly

Mary has been a part of the graphic communications industry for more than 40 years serving as a creative, a customer service representative and a print buyer and seller. Mary's passion and enthusiasm for the industry knows no bounds.
